Ritter Residence
Tiburon, California

Although the basic construction was sturdy and well maintained, this 40+ year old home in Tiburon was built "the old-fashioned" way: very separate rooms for dining, living and kitchen. This arrangement treated the kitchen as a secondary space, opening only to two streets on this corner lot, while closing it off from a stunning view of San Francisco Bay.

After our clients purchased the home, the walls were removed; a sense of separation is suggested by the use of custom cabinetwork punctuated by detailed wood columns. This new open plan allows all rooms to benefit from the expansive view.
